Joined the small group walking tour the first day upon arrival. Perfect way to orientate to Lisbon. The guide was awesome, groups were small so we were able to hear him. Lisbon is hilly, seems like always going up and our guide took small breaks to ensure the group stayed together. We had a couple tasty food stops along the way. Check in extremely well organized and easy to find. Highly recommend.

Our tour begins with Ginjinha, a traditional Portuguese sour cherry liqueur. At a small local shop or bar, youโll experience this sweet and slightly tangy drink, often served in a tiny glass or, for an authentic twist, in an edible chocolate cup. While sipping, learn about its origins in the 19th century and why itโs a favorite for locals and visitors alike.
Pair it with a pastel de nata for a sweet and savory combo!
Next, we head to a traditional tasca to try the legendary bifanaโa thinly-sliced pork sandwich, seasoned with garlic, spices, and a hint of white wine. Served in a fresh, crusty roll, itโs the ultimate comfort food and a must-try for anyone visiting Portugal.
Wash it down with a cold Portuguese beer like Sagres or Super Bock for the full experience!
Our third stop takes us to a cozy wine bar, where youโll sample some of Portugalโs finest wines. From the refreshing Vinho Verde to the rich and robust Douro reds, thereโs something for every palate. Donโt forget to try the world-renowned Port wine, a sweet fortified wine thatโs perfect for sipping.
A small platter of cheeses, chouriรงo, and olives complements the wine beautifully.
As the evening settles in, weโll relax at an outdoor cafรฉ or bar for some classic Portuguese aperitivos. This might include crispy bolinhos de bacalhau (codfish fritters), pataniscas (codfish pancakes), or tremoรงos (lupin beans). These snacks pair wonderfully with another round of beer or a refreshing white sangria.
Weโll end our tour at a scenic spot in Lisbon, perhaps near the historic center or a view of the countryside, raising a glass to friendship and the amazing flavors of Portugal.
This walking tour offers a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and camaraderie. Grab your friends and get ready for an unforgettable culinary adventure in Lisbon.
Speaking of our guide, Mauro is undoubtedly exactly what we were looking forโa young, dynamic guy full of knowledge about Portuguese culture and the most incredible places to visit in Portugal!
We hope to return soon, Mauro. Best of luck with your project, and thank you so much!
